For illness! So, a quick apology and update from me since it’s been so long since my last post!
I was really getting into the swing of writing again, getting my shit together and feeling motivated. Then we had Will’s 4th birthday and lots of family celebrations. Olivia then developed a nasty high temperature which resulted in two trips to A&E and turned out to be a bad case of tonsillitus – poor little babe. I had no idea children could even get that this young! Ten days of antibiotics later and she is now on the mend. Me and Will’s have both had horrible colds and approximately 15425862 honey and lemon drinks later we seem to be ok, bar a really annoying cough that won’t shift!
In the middle of all this I have been studying for a CACHE Level 2 in Children and Young People’s Mental Health, the final deadline of which was 6th December.
All of this left me feeling pretty frazzled and totally unmotivated. I’ve also had massive mum guilt for not doing so much ‘fun stuff’ with the kids as well as being SUPER snappy and short-tempered with them – a result of sleep deprivation, illness and anxiety all rolled into one.
So, today I’ve managed to shake some of this negativity off. I’ve wallowed in self-pity for long enough and now I feel ready to crack on and take on the world…ok maybe not the world but my kids at least!
I am a good mum and I try my bloody hardest 99% of the time so…stop the facebook envy of all the wonderful people posting their wonderful, fun-filled Christmas activities and concentrate on me and my family! Hey – we did make a few Christmas cards and painted a few pine cones, that’s good right?!
We have a few festive activities planned over the next few weeks so I’ll keep you updated on here. I also have a new post – ‘Fun, Festive and Free Activities with the Kids’ post coming very soon so keep an eye out for that!
Thanks for reading,
love Amy x
